General Terms & Conditions

Estimates

All prices provided are estimates based on the information available at the time they are prepared, including current parts pricing and availability. If additional faults are discovered during diagnosis or repair, these will also be discussed with you before proceeding.

Estimates are valid for 7 days unless otherwise stated.

Parts Availability

Parts availability and supplier pricing can change without notice. If the quoted parts become unavailable or require an alternative supplier, brand or freight option, you will be advised before any additional costs are incurred.

Diagnosis

Vehicle faults can sometimes require further testing before an accurate diagnosis can be made. While every effort is made to identify the cause of a fault, additional diagnosis may be necessary as new information becomes available.

Customer Approval

No additional repairs will be carried out without your approval, except where immediate action is required to make the vehicle safe or prevent further damage and we are unable to contact you.

Age-Related Wear & Fragile Components

Many vehicles, particularly older vehicles, contain plastic clips, connectors, hoses and other components that become brittle with age and heat.

While every care is taken when working on your vehicle, some components may break during normal disassembly despite appropriate care being exercised.

If this occurs, you will be advised as soon as practicable. Where possible, damaged components will be repaired or replaced after discussing the available options with you.

I like this because it doesn't sound like you're making excuses—it explains reality.

Mobile Repairs & Road Testing

Some repairs require road testing before and/or after repairs to confirm the fault and verify the repair.

Where a repair cannot be safely or effectively completed on-site, I will explain the reason and recommend an appropriate workshop or specialist where appropriate.

Workmanship Warranty

I stand behind the quality of my workmanship.

Warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear.

  • Failures unrelated to the repair performed.

  • Customer-supplied parts.

  • Damage caused by misuse, neglect or subsequent unrelated failures.

Payment

Payment is due upon completion of the work unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Seized, Corroded or Previously Damaged Components

During disassembly, seized or corroded fasteners, broken studs or damaged threads may require additional labour or replacement parts.

While every care is taken, these issues can occur due to age, corrosion or previous repairs and are outside my control.

Where practical, I will discuss the available options before proceeding.

Vehicle Condition & Previous Repairs

Labour estimates are based on the vehicle being in reasonably serviceable condition.

Additional labour may be required where excessive contamination, corrosion, damaged threads, seized fasteners, previous repairs, non-standard modifications or unsuitable repair methods are encountered.

Where reasonably practicable, any additional work or labour will be discussed with you before proceeding.

Customer-Supplied Parts

I'm happy to fit customer-supplied parts by prior arrangement.

To ensure quality and reliability, I normally source parts from trusted suppliers. This allows me to stand behind both the parts and the workmanship. When parts are supplied by a customer, I can't verify their quality, suitability, authenticity or warranty.

For this reason:

  • Customer-supplied parts are fitted at the owner's request.

  • I reserve the right to decline fitting parts that are incorrect, unsafe, incomplete or of unacceptable quality.

  • I guarantee the quality of my workmanship only. I cannot provide a warranty for customer-supplied parts or accept responsibility for failures resulting from defective, incorrect or unsuitable parts.

  • If additional labour is required because customer-supplied parts are incorrect, damaged, incomplete or fail during installation, additional labour charges may apply.

  • Where a repair cannot be completed or a fault arises due to the customer-supplied parts, the owner accepts responsibility for the cost of any additional labour required to rectify or diagnose the issue.

DIY Advice & Assistance

  • Advice is provided based on the information available at the time.

  • The vehicle owner remains responsible for any repairs they undertake themselves.

  • Where appropriate, I may recommend professional repairs or further testing before the vehicle is returned to service.

Customer Responsibilities

To help ensure repairs can be carried out safely and efficiently, customers are asked to:

  • Remove or secure any valuables and personal belongings from the vehicle before work begins.

  • Ensure the vehicle is parked in a safe location with reasonable access for repairs.

  • Advise me of any known faults, previous repairs or modifications that may affect the work.

While every care is taken when working on your vehicle, Varsity Auto Repairs accepts no responsibility for the loss of or damage to personal belongings or valuables left inside the vehicle.

Customers are responsible for ensuring the vehicle can be safely accessed and, where applicable, that keys, wheel lock keys, security codes and any relevant information required to carry out the repair are available.
