Brake Pulsation Under Braking
Customer Concern
The vehicle developed a noticeable shudder when braking.
Inspection
Inspection confirmed the front brake discs were responsible for the brake pulsation. The brake pads still had approximately one-third of their friction material remaining, and the calipers, slides and related brake components were found to be operating correctly.
Because brake pulsation can sometimes be caused by sticking calipers or other braking system faults, these components were inspected rather than simply replacing the discs.
Repair
The front brake discs and brake pads were replaced. The wheel hubs were cleaned to ensure the new discs mounted correctly, and the caliper slides and hardware were cleaned and lubricated before reassembly. The vehicle was then road tested to confirm the repair and begin bedding in the new brakes.
